Ruth Serrano Corona was the wife of Mexican drug lord Benjamín Arellano Félix.
By January 1986, she had a daughter who was named after her. The baby girl suffered from unspecified medical problems, and Benjamín decided to send Ruth and their daughter to San Diego to consult a specialist.
Behind-the-scenes
Ruth's daughter suffered from lymphatic malformation, which led her to have disfigured chins and a badly developed tongue. Officials identified her using this malformation, and followed her to track and arrest her father in 2002.
